HEALTH & CARE SERVICES

Who we are, how we help

We help people move beyond society’s limits to make the most of every day and achieve their goals.

Helping people set goals and achieve them

People living with physical, social, or emotional challenges are frequently met with pity or limitation rather than understanding. They are often told what they cannot do, defined by their experiences instead of their potential.

At SHCS, we say the opposite: new things are possible, no matter what society tells you. Our support workers listen to you, get to know you for who you are, structure the care around your needs and encourage you to try new things, in your own time, at your own pace. This helps people feel safe, confident and accepted and, ultimately, gives them the confidence to achieve their goals.

It could be getting out of bed, going to a movie, watching a film or making a meal.
Whatever the goal, whatever the journey, we help you see what’s possible.

In a world where others say “no you can’t”, we say “yes, you can”.

Carers as diverse as
the people we serve

Our team of over 200 dedicated professionals reflects the wide cultural and religious diversity of the communities we help.

Combining deep cultural awareness and personal experience, we align with participants from a wide range of backgrounds. Whether it’s shared language, culture or faith, our team makes sure that every individual is seen, heard, and supported in a way that honours who they are.

Our values:
making new
things possible

Our values guide each and every thing we do. Above all else, they’re about making people feel safe and accepted, so they have the sense of security they need to reach for what's possible.

Kristy Tomlin

REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER
Home Care (Wollongong/Shoalhaven)

Kristy is a devoted mother to two beautiful girls who are the heart of everything she does.
When she’s not immersed in the hustle of work and study, you’ll find her adventuring with her daughters, whether it’s cheering from the sidelines as a proud soccer mum, exploring the outdoors, or sharing her lifelong love of hockey and water skiing.

With a strong background in both the commercial, legal and private sectors, she made a conscious decision to shift into a career that felt more meaningful, one where she felt she could genuinely make a difference. Since joining SHCS, Kristy has found passion and drive and is proud of the impact her team have made alongside SHCS clients.

Kristy began her journey at SHCS in an administrative role and worked her way up to Client Care Coordinator, where she managed a caseload of clients and supported them in coordinating their care needs. As she found her feet, she continued to grow,  building strong relationships, expanding her knowledge, and embracing new challenges. This journey has now led to her current role as Regional Manager for the Wollongong and Shoalhaven areas.

Everything she does is to show her girls and others that with effort, resilience, and
belief, anything is possible.
